Manchester Digital kicks off growth strategy by hiring Katie Gallagher
Posted on Jul 14 in News & Blog by DaveIn the wake of this year’s highly successful Big Chip awards, Manchester Digital, the membership based network for people and businesses working within the North West’s digital sector, is looking forward to a bright future.
With the sector continuing to grow even at a time of little or no public sector support for digital business, the region’s digital sector remains buoyant and vibrant, with the development of MediaCityUK and projects such as Sharp and Fibre providing an exciting backdrop to what is happening at grass roots level within education and the digital business community.
Now 10 years old, Manchester Digital believes it has now an even more important role to play in representing students, freelancers and agencies with the aim of actively supporting and promoting the region’s growing digital business sector as a centre of excellence, innovation and influence within the UK and beyond.
In order to do this more effectively, Manchester Digital has acknowledged it has to increase membership and to this end it has recently appointed Katie Gallagher as Business Development Manager.
Katie, formerly of MIDAS and Sharp Project and a well-known and respected figure within the North’s digital and business community, will be working on developing member benefits and events as part of a concentrated membership drive.
Katie comments “Manchester Digital represents the coming together of individuals and organisations who share a similar passion and interest and who have a strong desire for Manchester and the surrounding region to become an even better place for digital business. My role is very much about developing the value of Manchester Digital to its membership and then harnessing this enthusiasm to facilitate new business, collaboration and knowledge share through a busy events programme which brings members together where they can learn and do business.”
Manchester Digital will shortly be launching a new website which is itself a collaborative project involving a number of member companies and individuals, as well as a host of added-value services as part of a planned programme of member benefits which will include the roll out of its much anticipated Product & Services Roster.
Savvy partner and director of Manchester Digital, David Adams, comments “The appointment of someone like Katie Gallagher has been what we as an organisation have needed for many years. With all the will in the world, the board and council of Manchester Digital are all very busy individuals and no matter how much voluntary time we put in, it’s simply not enough to deliver the sort of organisation our members need and deserve. Having Katie on board will mean we will be able to drive through the sorts of member services, benefits and events we have been planning for some time and create the sort of industry sector body Manchester Digital was originally designed to be. This is great news for our members and the region’s digital sector.”
